Arguably one of the most important shows in the world of poker, at least when it comes to sparking interest in No Limit Texas Hold'em, is Celebrity Poker Showdown, the show on Bravo network that pits five celebrity players against each other in Hold'em, playing for charity and for laughs. Now that co-host and professional poker player Phil Gordon has moved on, the producers needed another professional poker player to fill the gap. They picked pro Phil Hellmuth, a guy who certainly had the credentials, with nine World Series of Poker bracelets to his name, and one who will spark plenty of tension among the players with his attitude.
There are other changes as well as the host, such as the location. Celebrity Poker Showdown will now be shot in a Harrah's Entertainment casino in New Orleans, and charities that will receive money from the show will all be hurricane victim helpers. |
